July 28, 2021 - Bringing Him Home

Finally.
We are bringing our baby home.
Such an exciting day. It took a long time, much prayers, 4.5 months of training, so many babysitters, so many meals that were dropped off for us, many yellow "shower curtains" to be worn while with Michael, lots of tears, snuggles, saying goodbye to someone so that you could say hello to another... but it was about to be done.
God be praised.
The staff were excited for us-amazing group of cheerleaders. We walked in and we couldn't look for a bit after we washed up, as there was some decorating going on... oh my... lots of time put into making it special for our family.

Our little NICU grad. One of the nurese had crocheted a little cap for him - and there was a cute onesie on him that was personalized for him... decorations, and some gifts for this boy.
It  was special - two of his primary nurses came in on their day off to say goodbye, and a dear NP. One of his primary nurses was at home recovering from an injury - but the other nurse was on duty. So kind of them to come and in and say goodbye.

H.- she has such a soft spot for trached babies. :)
C. our NP and always so kind.
A. one of our amazing nurses...so grateful

Ch. one of the nurses that loved us before she was even on Michael's caregiving team.
The happy grad.
By his doorway - more decor you can't see from here.
Then we walked out... and that core 4 walked down with us, got us loaded up, and we said goodbye...til his next appointment. And drove him.
Kind of strange - comfortable, but yet it's all new, and wow - it's all on us to watch over him now.
His room - the kids had got some decor up for Michael -
A friend of a friend took some pictures for us - which was such a gift.
In his new bed.
Waiting for the kids to come back - they were at Diane's, so James went to pick them up...

At last.

OUR FIRST FAMILY PICTURE!

The nurses even sent us home with special cupcakes to celebrate - and they had even sent home decor for the kids to put up a few days earlier. So kind.

All my boys.
Laura - grinning so wide.
Then Dad - who has worked so hard to get us in this place, and on the other building we are renovating.. finally got to meet his grandson.

That night - the day before Will and Amanda begin traveling out west... moving back to SK - they got to meet Michael. We had planned our whole discharge around the time they needed to leave... just making it!

And Uncle Ben came too -
And more visitors over the next couple days... (weeks!)
Oma got to hold him in the hospital while we were out west, but she hadn't seen him for a few weeks.
Auntie Diane meeting Michael - after doing so much for our family so that we could get this far.
Shantel. :)
Uncle Brad.

Glenda - with a happy Michael.
So special to finally show him off.
Thanks be to God.
