Our precious one year old, turned TWO on Monday. :)
What a sweetheart she is, so full of life, and quite the smart kiddo. Can't imagine life without her.
To celebrate her day we went to the zoo; her first zoo experience. She loved it.
So this post is full of pictures...probably too many...but I wanted to document it all.... of her special day.
Starting with breakfast: pancakes with fruit, whipped cream and our very own home'made' maple syrup.
Then off to the Brantford Twin Valley Zoo we went. It's about 25 acres of land, a good variety of animals, has free parking, and is only 20 minutes away. All in all, a perfect fit.
The good old dromedary camel
Katelyn watching the prairie dogs - reminiscent of Alberta...sniff...sniff.... She'll only know what "gophers" are, because of a zoo - tragic. :) (at least, visits to the farm will help her to experience real animal life)
Feeding a fawn some grass.
And of course, one of the best things about the zoo, was their playground. :)
They had a "Creature Show" every hour, and showed all the kids, different animals, and allowed you to touch many of them. I found that quite interesting, and had fun seeing how many Katelyn would touch. If the other kids screamed when the staff brought out the lizard, etc. then she seemed to stay away from them. :)
The big lizard thingy. :)
The Alligator - I don't know if she touched this one, but she touch an albino snake and a few other ones.
The darling fox. Katelyn got all excited about it when I told her it was a baby fox. She has this thing about babies. :)
Touching goats at the petting zoo area.
Okay...so not too thrilled about it. :)
I had fun doing a little 'portrait' time with her as we walked along a shaded area. :) This one wasn't focused well, but I loved her smile. :)
I love this one....so cute!
We tried getting a family shot before leaving the zoo, by their gorilla statue - but the lady (who apparently knew lots about cameras :) didn't get the little guy in. :)
So we tried again - somewhere else - to get another family-at-the-zoo shot. (using the timer) but chopped off our heads... :) Then it was home for a much needed nap, and much needed clean up house time! We got everything done right before our "guests"/family arrived.
James set up a market tent in the backyard, made a large birthday poster, and cut the grass before Rob, Sarah, Mark, Heather and Nathan came. (Henry wasn't able to make it that night....but we still had fun)
Katelyn and Nathan playing on the deck with Katelyn's new dolly (from Heather) and baby gear.
The guys had left for a bit, and came back with an incredible present for Katelyn....
A swing!! One of the ones they sell at the Windmill - they get these in from Ohio. What an incredible & generous gift from a bunch of the aunts and uncles! She'll get a lot of use from this gift! It was perfect, as James and I had been thinking about buying one sometime...
Then we had supper: BBQ chicken, roasted potatoes, strawberry/almond salad, and bread.
And we had made a simple but delicious ice-cream cake for something different. :) It was tasty, and Katelyn did blow out both candles by herself.
Mark and Erik - I just love Erik's shirt. :)
Katelyn enjoyed her presents... alot... :) This wooden toy stacker was from Auntie Anne-Marie.
Grandma and Grandpa Fehr got her a beautifully illustrated Beatrix Potter book, which she has read to her before bed now.
We got her a wooden train/track set. I had found it at a garage sale for $8. :) It is perfect for her, and for Erik to play with in the future. Auntie Sarah also gave her a darling little puppy...that girl was blessed.
Another family picture - wow - three in one day. :)
Uncle and Nephew.
Getting kissed by Auntie Sarah and my darling Two year old girl
Katelyn's now annual picture with the puppy dog. :)
The blessed little girl with all of her presents. :) She had so much fun playing with them all today - the day after joys. I was able to get lots done too because of that. :)
Thankful for our Katie - our two-year old.
