We got our tree from Matt & Amanda's wedding of all things. :) They had a whole whack of them used for decorations, donated for use by a thrift store who said they could sell them for the store. So, we got a pre-lit tree for $40. :) I think it was a model tree. And, for this stage of lives, artifical works really well with youngsters.
Helping daddy put a star on the very tippy top.
After the tree was all decorated, thus began the teaching to the kids of "don't touch the tree". So in order to combat that desire a bit, we made a tree for the kids - specifically for Katelyn.
We made ornaments, a paper chain and star.
I think this is when Katelyn's love for glue and scissors began.
Now really, this looks more perfect than it was.
Yes, it was one of those great "mom" ideas to spend time crafting with her children. No, it was not serene. :) Kinda crazy actually. But it worked. :)
Katelyn putting her ornaments on our tree, and then we kept it in her room.
It worked well for a nightlight. :) (which we never use anyways. :)
So, Katelyn had her tree,
Mommy had her tree (the Christmas one)
and Daddy's tree was the artificial tree in the corner with some lights on it.
(that is how Katelyn defined the tree situation. :)
