The Trip Out West

And the time finally came to start our trip out to Saskatchewan for William and Amanda's wedding! After figuring out how much it would cost for just James and I to go, and the kids to be babysat, and all that stuff, and then how much it would cost to drive with them all, (stress factor included) it was better for us all to drive. :) So here we are at the-driving-across-the-country-stage-of-life. :)
We also took the three older nephews, Hendrik, Caleb and Micah, which was a huge help and made it more fun for all of us. :) Those boys were very helpful to the kiddo's, and were right there when we needed something. We ended taking the Windmill van, as there was a large crew - and we were taking Nelly home on our way back - plus some belongings of Amanda's.
Day 1: let's keep her entertained.
The handsome driver - who drove from 3p.m. - 5a.m. without a coffee or a rest. :)
The co-pilot, who drove a tiny bit. :) And yes, that's a diaper behind my head - to hold up our borrowed movie player screens so the kids could all see.
And this was our special supper to celebrate Hendrik's birthday. And this was right after Laura had thrown up twice (in the last couple hours) in the van. Poor thing gets a bit car sick.
The cute culprit.
The birthday boy at the McDonald's playplace where the kids' got some energy burnt off. Thank the Lord for places like these....germs included.
Me and my man.
Right after this picture was taken, we had a bad dirty diaper disaster (darling little Amy) in the playplace.... and after that was dealt with, we had no more issues on the way there.
Drove through the night - and made it to Marvin and Marlene's in MB around supper the next day. So glad to get out -and right away, most of the kids were on gator's, quads, and running around.
Going for our first gator ride around the property.
Erik was in his glory with all the tractors, and farm stuff everywhere.
I got to see a friend I hadn't seen in years - who is now living near Marlene - Crystal!.
Expecting number three - so neat to see how God has led her life.

Then it was time for an outdoor lunch - this cute homeless looking person finally got a warm meal. :)
Two good looking guys.
A bunch of girls on the steps.

Playing inside the bins.
Sock sorting time.

Auntie Nel (who had already been in MB) playing with the younger set.
Benjamin and Katelyn playing chess.
"He always beats me". Don't think she really knows how to play, but she tried. :)

James and Erik went with Marvin to pick up and drive a new tractor back to the farm - much to Erik's delight.

Cute cousins. :) Reminds me of all the time spent together with cousin Jonathan. Best buds we were.

Then off we went in our cuteness for a picnic supper on the farm.

We had bison burgers by their creek with a nice fire.
The the next morning we headed the last 5 hours to Regina. :) Where almost everyone else had all flown in the night before!
So fun to all be at the same hotel, and run into a family member wherever you went.

The groom. :)
Just the oldest 6 of Henry and Heather's were there. The girls were face timing the newest brothers on the couch.
Then off to the rehearsal.

Erik was trying his best to be one of the ring bearers - and he did fine the day before, but on the wedding day.... well it was too much. So Jordan took his place effortlessly. Oh well. :) We tried.

Practicing to be Mr. and Mrs. William Heikoop.

Then it was dinner time - and my parents had just come! (with Anne-Marie and Charissa!! - I hadn't seen Charissa since the accident so that was pretty special! And my cousin Joel, and his finace Mikayla was there too - to film the wedding.
I ran outside with these two to catch this glorious sunset...

Then back inside for cake. :)

This is the morning of - pix taken by Marlene. :) William had just given his groomsmen gifts, when suddenly...
They grabbed him and threw him in the pool! :) And no - he didn't have his cell phone on him. :)

The kids loved it - but the hotel staff...not so much! Haha. :)
