A Yellow Dress

My little girl's yellow dress...hanging on her closet door. I'm thinking she'll look very sweet in that on Sunday, unless of course we pick a different dress! :) We just can't believe what a gift from God we've been entrusted with here on earth. Our little princess...in a yellow dress.

July 2009

Finally getting caught up on pictures again...we've been enjoying life with Katelyn so much, and feel like we are getting into somewhat a schedule! Katelyn has been smiling for a couple weeks now - just a little here and there, and a couple days ago, she slept through the night for the first time! I woke up nice and scared, wondering if she was still breathing, and she was, and we are both happy. :)
Giving me a bit of a smile - when she really smiles, her face just lights up!
Here's more pictures of the two weeks with Tim here - we had a few games nights which was fun. Playing 'Bang' here which was great.
One night, Tim showed us how to play Lost Cities.... :) (yes brother, we like it!)
We watched James play soccer one night - this was Katelyn's first time being at the soccer field! Aunt Nel came to help cheer on the Red team.
Me and Katie.
Katelyn surveying the game...
Uncle Tim, Kate and I, Daddy and Uncle William after the game, which they lost but it was fun.
We sang at Tavistock's drive in 'evening service', where the people can listen to us and the evening's speaker through the radio - I did sing with them for the first song, but then Katelyn, who was starving, needed me, so I got to listen to the Heikoops sing for a change!
We went with Tim to a mini golf/fun place by Hamilton on the Monday before he left - here he and James are about to go into the batting cages to get practiced up for the baseball tournament in Alberta in a few weeks. :)
Timothy hitting away.
My James giving the ball a whack.

Diane and William joined us for mini golfing which was great fun.
Me and Timothy - brother and sister...
The day we took Tim to the airport, we went out to lunch at the Mandarin before he left. And this was the day before Nelly left for China, so we had a nice time together before saying goodbye to both of them.
Last picture with Katelyn before we see them in August. So thankful to have had a few family members around to see our little girl, and to spend some time with again. Family is so special.
Just me, on a walk. :) I found this baby sling in a thrift store for $6 which I promptly snapped up. :) It's been great thus far, and Katelyn loves to be close to me so we're both happy.
Last Monday, we had the neat honor of having Ashley and John Goushian and their little boy Joshua, and our friend Shena over for a quick lunch as they were on vacation from the states! We had such fun being together again! I hadn't seen any of them since our wedding, or before, so this was very special!.
Me and Ash - with Katelyn...
The Goushian family plus Shena. :)
And that night, we went with Mom, Dad and Sarah to see Oma Heikoop, so that she could at last, meet her newest great grandchild. :)
Katelyn's one month old picture with her little stuffed puppy. :) (I've had Katelyn wearing that often a bunch already Ash!!!)
Auntie Sarah - it's been so wonderful to have Sarah around for the past month - and now, only one day left with her before she returns to the Philippines for another year of midwifery studies. We'll miss her, but are so excited for these opportunities for her...love ya Sart!
It was so cute, I came upstairs when I heard Katelyn making some noise, and there she was 'playing' with a bunny in her cradle - her first playtime with a toy. :) She was whacking it around. :)
Another games night - Risk - always fun to have the siblings over. So that's a bunch of pictures for July. :)

Our Monday Together

Yesterday we had such fun, us three little Heikoops. :) We finally weeded our 'gardens', which felt so good.
My man working away.
Katelyn sleeping in a little outdoor playpen/crib :) while we made our little home a little neater on the outside.
Then, we went for a hike up the Bruce Trail, where James and I got engaged in November 2007. We hadn't been there since, so we went for a family hike. :) We got off late, starting to hike around 7:30 p.m. It had just rained so it was on the slippery side, but holding each other's hands, we were just fine. :)
This is how light it was when we started...
You can't see it at all, but we're sitting right where we got engaged...sigh...and happier than ever!
So, after we found where we had got engaged, thus began the battle with nature, to try to find some dry wood to start a fire and have our hot dog roast. :) It took a bit, but we got some dry wood, and then to light the sticks got to be a challenge - we used up all the paper towel we brought, napkins, and our lighter started to die....so after about 20 minutes of difficulty, we gave up...and started to eat a few things that we brought. Then James found the candles he had brought to put our cake :) and decided to give it one more shot - so we used our paper plates, cake box, candles and a diaper, and we had a roaring fire...by then it was 10:10 p.m. :) So we had our weiner roast, and got all warmed up by the fire for an hour. :)
Katelyn's first bonfire.
Me and Kate sitting in the forest. Then after 11 p.m. we got the fire out, packed up, and began the 3 km hike back in the dark - but with a flashlight... :) We had fun for the rest of the hike, and eventually made it back home and to sleep. :) A fun time together as the littlest Heikoop family.
A baby gift from three ladies in our church - Rhonda, Krissandra and Marie. The baby cake is filled with diapers, lotion, shampoo, socks, slippers, toy, creams....etc.... and the most adorable wooden clothes hangers!! Such a neat gift which we'll enjoy for a while.
Then two of Rhonda's girls made blankets for Katelyn - Morgan crocheted the beautiful purple and yellow blanket - her first time crocheting, and abosolutely amazing! Allison, made the cozy flannel quilt!! Little Katelyn will never need to be cold!! So blessed by all of the love given to us.

The Uncle's Vist!

We picked Tim up at the airport on the 2nd of July for a week of computer work at the Windmill. And of course, it worked out perfectly, cause he got to meet his newest neice for the first time. :) So there they are, right after seeing each other! :)
At home, holding the little darling.
Then, two days later, we got to have James(my eldest brother and father of 8) :) here for the weekend, as he was on a rare buisness trip in Toronto!! Hooray. It was so neat to be able to share with him, where we live, and of course our little princess.
We even 'worked' at the Windmill for a bit - cutting up apples for pie filling. :) Katelyn just slept in her stroller or was held by some kind person. :)
The bakery men.
Brother and Sister.
We took an ice-cream break with Tim - (he's holding my ice-cream btw - he didn't get two cones :)
The ice-cream matched her outfit, but no, she didn't get a lick. :) Posed for the camera, 'twas all.
On the Saturday night, we had a bunch of the guys over for a game. :) That was really fun.
By the Alexander Graham Bell Homestead, which is about 8 minutes from our place. And the first long distance call was made from a house about three doors down from the Windmill, so lots of history around Mount Pleasant. :)
The men - two James'. It was so great to have James here for those two days, and now we get to enjoy Timothy for a bit longer before he has to go home....family is special!

Bits and Pieces

Katelyn and me on a walk.
On our first 'date' after Katelyn was born - Mom babysat Katelyn while we went on a walk with ice-cream. :)
Saying goodbye at the airport - how I hate goodbyes - makes me even more thankful for heaven when we don't have to say that anymore. It was awesome having mom with us for those three weeks - God's timing in it all was perfect. Mom was such a help to us, and we had such wonderful talks together...so thankful for all of my family.
The Windmill on Canada Day.
Tim and Katelyn - fans of Canada.
Uncle Rob - the birthday guy holding Katelyn. :) It was Dad Fehr's birthday too - so Happy Birthday to you both.
