May 2022 - The Bike

Wow. What an incredible gift.
I had wanted a bike like this for Michael and his equipment so that we could still bike as a family. But I knew that was a dream, but maybe one day... I told Deanna and one of nurses Irene about how cool it would be do have a bike like that one day... ages ago. And little did I know, but these two worked together for months, to fundraise, research and then buy this bike for us.
I had no idea - James knew, and had even test drove the bike at the shop to make sure it would work.
We had Irene coming to watch Michael for the afternoon, and I was going to do some cleaning, but James wanted to go out and do errands. Strange but okay. So we did some stuff, and then were driving back when we got a call, saying don't come back quite yet... that was also strange - I thought, maybe Irene is doing some artwork with the kids and they weren't finished... so James and I had a burger and then came home... to cars parked and a bunch of people standing by my door. Of course, this was the day of work clothes and yucky hair... then Deanna said that a bunch of people came together to do something special for us... and out of the house drives Ben on this bike!!!
I'm rarely surprised by gifts.. so this was an absosulte shock! I cried and was so amazed. So much work, sacrifice and generoisty went into this gift.
This was one of the companies - The Moving Box - right down the road from us - that worked with their employee's to raise some of the funding for us.
Irene and Michael.
We took it for a trial ride around the driveway and it is amazing.
But let's not talk about the pressure to try to bike and stay steady on something that cool and long in front of people! lol.

We went for a family bike ride in the next few days - and it was like a balm to my heart - all of us biking a long. No extra nursing care scheduled needed to watch him - we just all went. Yes, it is a bit of effort to get us all out. But worth it - and so grateful for how much work James does to make it happen.
He loved it too.
So grateful.
Such a gift - and reminder of God's faithfulness - and that He provides fun too!
